Fun City!

Aiden and I had our overnight getaway to Fun City in Burlingon, Iowa last week. We did have a very 'fun' time together, but not sure that we will go back as a family of four. We had the most fun at the outdoor water park in which Aiden is now tall enough to go on all of the water slides by himself with a life jacket.  The indoor portion of Fun City has a smaller indoor water park area, an arcade, bowling alley, and go cart track. Aiden and I did all of the indoor activities as well, but spent the most time outdoors. With that being said, I hardly had any time to take any pictures! I did snap a few when we were bowling! I had to chuckle to myself when we were bowling because this was the first time Aiden had ever bowled and I am the WORST at this sport and Jeff is quite good being that his family spent a good deal of time at the bowling alley when he was a kid! So, I think a 'do over' is in the works for Jeff to take Aiden bowling to show him how it's really done..ha!

All and all it was so fun to just spend some one on one time with Aiden. He is growing up way too fast!  One of the best moments of our trip was when Aiden decided that he wanted to go down the 'big red toilet bowl slide' So, we climbed four flights of stairs and I carried our tubes. This slide is CRAZY!!! You start by going down this dark tube into this 'toilet bowl' and then swirl around until you go down a final dark tube into the pool. I always went first down the slides so that I could meet Aiden at the end. Well, at the end of this slide, I was so fearful that our time at the outdoor water parks was over because of the speed and intensity of this slide, but NOPE, Aiden shot out of that slide laughing and saying, 'Let's do it again!'

A Little Break From The Routine...

I am officially on vacation! I have been looking forward to this 10 day break from the everyday routine for quite some time. I really don't have much planned, but here is my 'To Do' list:

1. Dust off the Kindle and read a book. ( I got behind with the Olympics)

2. Paint the front porch

3. Knock off some appointments for myself and the boys' (Dentist and ENT)

4. Taking Aiden on an 'Aiden and Mommy' overnight getaway. I still haven't finalized our plans just yet, but I am sure this will be a post all on its own!

5. Have fun at my 15 year Class Reunion

6. And most importantly.....RELAX AND UNWIND!!!

The Olympics...

I know that we have another week of the 2012 Olympics, but I just had to repost this. This little gal below is so wise beyond her years.  It was 11:00 p.m. when they aired the Gold Medal Ceremony for Gabby and when she made this statement, it gave me goosebumps and brought tears to my eyes. I have been sleep-deprived this week staying up late to watch the coverage from London....and staying off Social Media to prevent from coming across any 'spoilers'! But, it has been so worth it!

Another favorite part of the Olympic coverage that I always enjoy watching is the stories behind the Athletes that are taped prior to competition. I love seeing where they come from, how they were raised, their cultures, and how they trained in their particular sport to become an Olympic Athlete.

I couldn't help but notice a good handful of kids' at the pool just this last week sporting shiny new Speedo swim caps. It really does clarify that our youth really are 'sponges' and pay attention to the world around them! What great role models that have been streaming through our computers and coming across the air waves through our TV's this week! I have even caught the boys' making comments about the swimmers and stopping just a moment longer when Jeff and I are yelling at the TV cheering on a swimmer to 'Go, go go! Get to the wall!'

Another one of my favorite Athletes is Missy Franklin for the USA Swim Team. What character to turn down endorsements so that you can still swim on your High School Swim Team?!? Awesome!!!

The USA Swim Team also made a You Tube video that I think is so adorable too! Enjoy! Go Team USA!

Soccer

Aiden has been participating in Soccer at the North Liberty Rec Center for the past four weeks and we had our final night last evening. He had a really great time! He is very excited that we signed him up for Football and Basketball this Fall as well! Here are a few pictures that I took before my camera died.

The Artist...

Let me just set the stage for you....

It was a quiet Wednesday afternoon at the Davis house. Both of the boys' were napping, Jeff was at work, and I was chatting on the phone with my friend Kathy. Did I mention that both boys' were napping??...or so I thought!

This is what I encountered when I went in to check on Ty.

This is diaper rash cream all over the window, table, and bed. When I walked into the room Ty excitedly stated, "Mama, I'm coloring!!"

I wasn't quite sure if I should laugh, cry, or walk back out of the room and hope that I had layed down for a nap and was dreaming all of this!

I took the 'I'm going to take your picture and then scold you route' and then giggled to myself post-clean up!

Luckily my AMAZING Norwex came to the rescue and this was a very easy clean up!
